Tour Plan

Day 01 Casablanca – Rabat

Pick-up from Casablanca airport or your hotel. Start the 9-day tour from Casablanca and the Imperial Cities, visiting the Hassan II Mosque on Boulevard Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah—one of the world’s tallest and largest mosques. Then travel to Rabat to visit the city’s main monuments: the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Royal Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and Hassan Tower. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 02 Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Fes

On the way to Meknes, drive along the Maamora forest. Arrive in Meknes, located at the foot of the Middle Atlas Mountains. The city reached its peak under Sultan Moulay Ismail. About 20 km from Meknes are the Roman ruins of Volubilis, one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in North Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Visit Morocco’s holy town of Moulay Idriss, perched on a rocky hill overlooking the Oued Erroumane valley and the plains of Volubilis. Continue to Fes. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad.

Day 03 Fez (Guided Tour)

Free day in Fes to discover the city, considered Morocco’s religious and cultural center. Walking through the medina (old city) feels like stepping back in time: guild-based crafts are still active, the narrow streets allow only donkeys for transport, and the maze-like alleys are constantly bustling. Explore quarters such as the Andalusian neighborhood, as well as magnificent mosques and Quranic schools (madrasas).

Fes is also famous for its tanners’ souk, where visitors can see traditional, medieval-rooted leather-dyeing methods that produce vivid colors. Fes has long been associated with learning and spirituality and remains Morocco’s spiritual capital. After the medina, another option is to wander through Fes el-Jdid, where the Royal Palace, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), and some of the city’s historic areas are located. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad.

Day 04 Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, depart toward Midelt, crossing the Middle Atlas mountains and cedar forests. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” for its architecture, and in Azrou, an important craft center known for cedarwood work. After crossing the Zad Pass (2,178 m), arrive in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, descend toward Errachidia via the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm groves. Pass through Erfoud, the former gateway to the desert, famous for fossils and fossil workshops.

Continue to the impressive dunes of Merzouga. Arrive at a hotel at the foot of the dunes, enjoy a welcome mint tea, and take time to rest. Later, walk on the fine sand of Erg Chebbi, relax, and enjoy the landscape. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Berber dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05 Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Desert – Nomad Villages

After a hearty Moroccan breakfast, travel by 4x4 to leave Merzouga and begin a circuit around the Erg Chebbi dunes—an area of desert sand featuring dunes reaching up to about 250 meters. Drive along a track used during the Paris–Dakar Rally, with the Algerian border mountains in the background. With several stops along the way, discover how local nomad families live, visit the Tissardmin oasis, enjoy spectacular landscapes, small desert villages, and palm groves. Stop in Khamlia, home to people originally from Mali, to enjoy a Gnawa music performance with mint tea.

At lunchtime, there is the option to eat under the shade of a tamarisk tree (typical of the desert) and try “Berber pizza,” watching how it is prepared. Back at the hotel, meet your camels and ride toward the foot of the Great Dune of Erg Chebbi. During the ride (around 1.5 hours), enjoy sunset, changing colors, and the calm of the dunes. Arrive at the camp, enjoy an authentic Berber dinner, and listen to drum music. Overnight in nomadic-style tents in the heart of the desert under a spectacular starry sky.

Day 06 Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate

Wake up early to enjoy sunrise over the dunes. Return to Merzouga by camel, taking in the scenery. After breakfast and a shower at the lodge, depart toward Rissani, considered the first imperial city, and stroll through what is known as the most authentic and traditional souk in Morocco—and the largest in the south—where all kinds of crafts, food, and animals are traded.

Continue toward Ouarzazate, passing the Jorf palm grove on the right bank of the Oued Ziz, then the Ksar of Touroug, framed by impressive oases.

Stop in Tinejdad for lunch. Then visit the Todra Gorges: the Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon with vertical rock walls rising up to around 200 meters. Continue via Tinghir and the beautiful Dades Valley, visiting Kelaa M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses. Arrive in Ouarzazate with the option to visit the Taourirt Kasbah. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 07 Ouarzazate – Aït Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, depart Ouarzazate. Option to visit a film studio. Continue to the famous kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many well-known films were shot here (e.g., Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, Babel). Continue the journey: the 200 km between Ouarzazate and Marrakech cross the High Atlas Mountains. Drive through the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass (2,260 m), with scenic photo stops.

To make the day even more special, follow the old caravan trade route linking the two cities via the Ounila Valley, where some kasbahs are built into caves, leading to Telouet Kasbah, strategically located at 1,870 m, before the final climb and arrival in the Red City: Marrakech. Dinner and overnight in Marrakech.

Day 08 Marrakech

Free day in Marrakech, famous for Jemaa el-Fna square and its souk, which will take up a large part of the day—an unforgettable mix of aromas, sounds, and sensations. The city also offers countless places to explore: Majorelle Garden, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, walks through the medina or the Mellah (the former Jewish quarter), the city walls, and the modern city (Gueliz), the area with a more Western lifestyle. Overnight in a hotel or riad.
